What is prenatal yoga?

Prenatal yoga is more than you think. It’s a great way to adjust your body tailored to expectant women, including maintaining good fitness, reducing stress, and preparing your mind and body for childbirth. As it’s equally important to practice safe exercise and low pressure during pregnancy, prenatal yoga focuses on gentle and safe poses that are absolutely safe and beneficial to expectant mothers and their babies. But is practicing yoga safe during pregnancy? This is the most common question asked by couples. We say yes; even science says yes to prenatal yoga. Why? Read this full article until the end. And if you think it’s only about physical well-being, then you are wrong. Prenatal yoga is not limited to physical well-being; it also helps to create a calm, peaceful, and balanced state of mind, which is important during pregnancy.

The poses you learn here will help you enjoy your pregnancy, ease your pain, and help with a normal delivery. A balanced diet, poses that are safe and effective, a peaceful environment, and happy moments are all that you need.

What is postnatal yoga?

Postnatal yoga is a yoga form that is designed especially to support mothers during postpartum time. It usually begins after six weeks of childbirth, but also varies among women based on their recovery rate. Postnatal yoga focuses primarily on the physical and emotional changes that begin after childbirth, offering mothers a safe and nurturing environment to rebuild their strength and muscles and promote relaxation.

Physically, postnatal yoga involves gentle movements and poses that mainly target the body parts that have been affected during childbirth, like the abdomen, pelvic floor, and back. These poses help mothers improve posture, reduce pain, and strengthen the muscles that might get affected during pregnancy and childbirth. Yoga is incomplete if you can’t remove negativity from your body. Hence, it also incorporates breathing exercises to reduce stress and anxiety, helping mothers to promote calmness and positivity.

Emotionally, this program offers a supportive community for new mothers to connect with others with similar experiences. This will help new mothers connect emotionally with others, reduce the feeling of isolation, and provide a space for mothers to share their journey and the challenges of motherhood.

Benefits Of Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training

Prenatal yoga is not just a yoga practice; it has unlimited benefits too. If you think it does not provide you with much benefit, you must read it. Here are the following benefits you should know:

Physical fitness:

Childbirth is difficult, and hence it requires special attention for women. The pain is unbearable for mothers, and after childbirth, your body might get affected. In order to gain strength and power, you at Prenatal Yoga will learn exercises and poses that will help you strengthen your affected muscles and body parts that have been affected during childbirth to give you more strength.

Improve flexibility:

For yoga, flexibility is important. But it is not like we do with a normal person. The exercises you learn will be gentle, which will not only strengthen your muscles but also give you more flexibility.

Emotional connection:

When you come to learn here, you will meet your fellow learners too, and this connection will help you to share your journey and experience with your fellow learners, giving you consistent emotional support.

Reduce stress:

A spiritual journey with a calm and peaceful environment, a supportive team, and yoga exercises like breathing will help you remove all negativity like stress, anxiety, and depression from you. You will develop positivity and a positive attitude towards your life.

Connection with your child:

This yoga really helps you to make a deeper and stronger connection with your baby. From stress management to relaxation and mindfulness to preparation for birth, it has all the benefits that an expecting mother should take.

Childbirth is difficult; in fact, it is more than a miracle. You might wonder how prenatal yoga helps you achieve better delivery outcomes. Let's have a look at the science behind this.

Prenatal yoga helps to strengthen and increase the flexibility of vaginal and perineum muscles, which results in smoother labor. As mentioned earlier, the exercises you will learn will help you to strengthen and flex your muscles. The flexibility of the muscles that develop during yoga gives women more energy and makes them more relaxed.

This is not what we say, but research is a testament to it. New research suggests that prenatal yoga has better outcomes in labor pain and delivery as compared to women who never exercised during pregnancy. Overall, some recent studies suggest that:

  • Prenatal yoga significantly lowers the intensity of labor pain.
  • Has lower chances of a cesarean section
  • Experienced a shorter duration of the 2nd and 3rd stages of labor.

Hatha Yoga & Ashtanga Vinyasa

Born in the lap of the Holy Ganga, at the feet of the Bhootnath Shiva Temple, amidst the forests of the Himalayas, Dhirendra reveals himself as a nature lover and spiritual seeker. Having started his schooling at the tender age of 5, from one of the oldest, most iconic and traditional schools of Rishikesh, Dhirendra believes he was drawn to Yoga by a mystical force as he practiced asanas during the physical education lessons in school. He began to live the yogic way of life from that early age and embraced spirituality as his routines began with worshipping Lord Shiva and the Holy Ganga and continued with practising asanas, eating satvik food and attending music lessons. It was under the able guidance of his Guru Narender Gusain that he was able to leave all his vices and practice Yoga religiously. His dedication was such that there were times that he would practice till his body was sore, and it was around this time that he realized that the external appreciation and praise were pointless and the true meaning of Yoga was the alignment of the body, mind and soul, being able to appreciate himself from within. The next part of his training came under Guru Nalin Sharma, under whom he learned Yogic Philosophy and spiritual growth and finally under Guru Roshan Singh, Dhirendra underwent lessons on personal growth. When his three Gurus thought he was ready, Dhirendra started the Yoga school with one goal - helping other seekers on their yogic journey to explore their full potential.
